Senior Cost Accountant

Summary of Role The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for overseeing planning, studying and collecting data to establish standard costs for all the non-dairy business units (Egg, Feed, Produce, Logistics). This role includes directing the bill of materials and analyzing the standard to actual variances as part of the month-end close process. This position must construct and monitor all cost of goods sold information needed to provide appropriate level of analysis to each business unit leader and be a resource for the business unit leaders to analyze dynamic changes to critical cost streams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities o Generate and analyze purchase price variance reports o Develop and maintain product standard costs for Egg, Feed and Produce commodities o Analyze standard to actual cost of goods sold variances o Develop and perform formula validations and review o Maintain appropriate documentation for new standards' development in accordance with the annual budgeting process o Support month-end duties of multiple business units o Ensure month-end close activities are completed timely and accurately o Develop comprehensive schedule of critical month-end procedures and processes o Ensure validity and accuracy of system ERP through analysis and internal audit procedures o Provide support documentation to all 3rd party auditors o Complete monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations for all accounts in assigned commodities o Function as a Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) in project to migrate the current ERP system to SAP S4 Hana for the non-dairy business units. o Collaborate with Senior Director of Supply Chain Finance on cascading key measures for the non-dairy business units. o Timely and accurate completion of duties o Regular and punctual attendance, physical presence in the workplace when required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities o A minimum of a four-year degree in accounting or business required o3-5 years of experience in an accounting function in a manufacturing organization o Practical accounting knowledge and skills including knowledge of current GAAP o Must be well organized, detail oriented, and accurate o Must have extensive knowledge in excel and word, SAP experience is a plus o Must have demonstrated ability to create management level reporting related to standard cost and variances to plan o Must have demonstrated ability to analyze data to identify anomalies and develop solutions to solve problems o Limited travel to other cooperative sites for training may be required o Must possess good communication skills o Ability to listen actively, problem solve, and communicate with other departments as required o Ability to manage, adapt and promote change is required o Must be a self-starter with initiative and desire to promote process improvements and efficiency throughout the organization o Must be able to handle a diverse workload, frequent interruptions, multiple tasks and deadlines as well as doing projects for multiple individuals.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
AccountingEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
